28 Fun Baby Shower Games
Baby Showers are a great time to get together with friends and family to celebrate the coming of a new baby. Whether the shower is for a sister, friends or neighbors a great selection of shower games is a must. Baby shower games are a great way to get everyone invited involved and getting to know one another. They are also a great way for the new mommy to be to gather helpful information, tips and advice from everyone about the new baby on the way. Remember that none of these games are set in stone, be creative give them your own special touch. Change the colors or items to fit just right with the theme of your shower. Keep it fun and everyone is guaranteed to have a great time.
BABY SHOWER GAMES:
1. BABY BINGO
Items Needed:
Blank Bingo Sheets (Printable blank sheets can be found in the back of the book)
Pencils or Pens
Bingo Dabber, Stickers or Highlighters
Instructions:
Before the guest of honor begins to open her shower gifts is a good time to announce and explain the rules of Baby Bingo.
Hand out blank bingo sheets to guest. Instruct guest to mark the center square of their bingo sheets as a "FREE". Then have everyone fill in the blank squares with baby items, rattles, and diapers, blankets ECT. Once everyone has there squares all filled in the game can officially begin.
As each gift is opened if that item appears on one of the squares have them mark it with a bingo dabber or sticker, (You can find very cute baby shower stickers at your local party stores). As bingo is being yelled out, hand out gifts to the winners.
2. BABY BANK
Items Needed:
Piggy Bank
Instructions:
As guests arrive everyone is asked to contribute to the piggy bank. Sometime during the party the piggy bank is given to the new parents to be for the baby's first bank account. This can also be used in the Baby Pool game below.
3. BABY FOOD GUESS
Items Needed:
10 small jars of baby food. (Different flavors)
Small tray
Permanent marker or masking tape
Note pads
Pencils or pens
Instructions:
Prior to removing baby food labels mark the bottoms of the baby food jars from one through ten with permanent marker or a piece of masking tape with number, remember to records the flavors and their numbers on a separate piece of paper for scoring when everyone is finished.
Have someone pass out paper & pencils to everyone. Remove caps from jars and place on tray. Pass around tray to each guest and have them record their guess. When everyone if finished read the correct flavors. The one with the most right wins!
Variation:
Other Items Needed:
Paper Plates
Plastic Spoons
Instructions:
Instead of passing around a tray of jars, take paper plates and number around the edge of the plates one through ten. Place a small amount of each baby food by the number you have recorded. Give each guest a plate of baby foods samples along with a plastic spoon. Guest can then taste each sample and record their guesses. The guest with the most correct wins!
4. BABY POOL
Items Needed:
Copies of Calendar month baby is due
Pencils or Pens
Piggy Bank
Instructions:
Hand out copies of the calendar month to all guests with a pencil or pen. Have each guest place their names and phone numbers on their calendars. Then on the date they believe the baby will be born have them place their initials and time.
Pass around the piggy bank and have everyone put in a dollar or so. The host will hold on to everyone’s calendars and the piggy bank. When the baby is born the host will call the winner and either give them a gift or the piggy bank. Usually the piggy bank is given to the new parents for the baby’s first piggy bank!
5. BABY QUIZ
Items Needed:
Host will need to get in touch with grandparents (To Be) prior to shower to perpare quiz. Ask them what the parents to be were like as babies, include vital statistics such as
* Time of birth
* Height
* Weight
* First tooth
* First smile
* First walked
* Age when toilet trained
Use this information make a basic quiz from information about the future parents.
Printed out copies of quiz
Pencils or pens
Instructions:
Pass out the quiz to guests, have him or her fill them out. Then read the answers to everyone, the guest with the most correct answers wins!
6. BABY BOTTLE RACES
Items Needed:
3 to 4 Baby Bottles
Juice or Milk
Instructions:
Before explaining the game details ask for 3 or 4 volunteers, make sure to include the mother to be too. Once you have your volunteers give each of them a baby bottle filled with 1 or 2 oz of juice or milk. Explain to your volunteers that they must drink all the liquid from the bottle the first to finish wins!
It is a lot harder to drink from a baby bottle than one might think! This is great fun for everyone. You find yourselves cheering the volunteers on and laughing uncontrollably. This is also a great time for pictures!
7. DIAPER DERBY
Items Needed:
4 Rolls of Toilet Paper
Instructions:
Split the guest attending the shower in 4 groups. Give each group a roll of toilet paper. Using only the roll of toilet paper each groups must diaper one of their team members. They are not allowed to use pins, staples or anything else to hold it together.
Once everyone has their team member diapered to mommy-to-be will pick the best diapered baby. The winning team all wins a small prize!
8. DIRTY DIAPERS
Items Needed:
Napkins
Mustard
Instructions:
Fold napkins into diapers, place mustard inside one of the folded diapers. Each guest picks one of the diapers. The guest with the dirty diaper wins!
9. DIRTY DIAPER II
Items Needed:
Several Small Disposable Diapers
Several different kinds of chocolate bars ( Mars, Snickers, Hershey’s ect.)
Permanent Makers
Pad of paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Open each diaper and place a small amount of each type of melted chocolate bar inside. Number each diaper with maker.
Pass out paper and pencils to guest. Each guest will examine the diapers and write down what type of chocolate bar is in each diaper. The guest with the most correct wins!
10. DON'T SAY BABY
Items Needed:
Clothespins Or Safety Pins
Instructions:
As each guest arrives they are given a clothespin or safety pin and instructed that throughout the party they are not to say the word "BABY". If another guest hears another guest say "BABY" they collect the clothespins from the guest that said the word. The guest at the end of the party with the most pins wins!
Variation:
Everyone is given clothespins when they arrive. The only difference with this variation is that no one can cross his or her legs. If someone catches you crossing your legs you lose you clothespins to them. The guest with the most clothespins at the end of the party wins!
11. DRESS THE BABY
Items Needed:
Life Size baby Doll
Receiving Blanket
Clothe Diaper
Diaper Wrap
Onsie
Instructions:
One at a time each guest takes a turn trying to either dress or swaddle the baby. Each guest is timed - the one with the fastest time wins!
12. FEEDING TIME
Items Needed:
2 large Bowls
Cotton Balls to fill one bowl
Wooden Spoon
Blindfold
Instructions:
Explain to your guest that the object of the game is to transfer as many cotton balls from one bowl to the other in 30m seconds. That’s it... easy.
Then one at a time each guest is blindfolded, the two bowls are placed in front of them and they are given a wooden spoon. On the word go each person is given 30 seconds to transfer as many cotton balls they can. The guest that transfers the most cotton balls wins!
This might seem easy but is much harder than is looks, the cotton balls are virtually weightless on the spoon, you will laugh at how many guest transfer empty spoon after empty spoon. Great fun and laughs!
13. GRAB THE BABY PINS
Items Needed:
Several Small Safety Pins
Rice
Medium Bowl
Blindfold
Instructions:
Fill a medium size bowl with rice. Place several small safety pins in rice and mix up.
Explain to your guest the object of the game is to find as many safety pins as possible in one minute.
Each guest is then blindfolded; the bowl of rice is placed in front of them. Each guest is then timed one minute the guest that finds the most safety pins wins!
14. GUM BABIES
Items Needed:
Bubble Gum - The square kind like Bubble Yum
Paper & Pencil or Pen
Instructions:
Each guest is given a piece of bubble gum along with a numbered piece of paper. They are then instructed to make a baby out of the bubble gum; the wrapper of the bubble gum can be used.
When everyone has finished their babies, collect them along with their numbered papers for judging. Be sure to have every guest must remember their number.
The bubble gum babies are placed in front of the Mommy-to-be for judging. Prizes are given to the best and worst bubble gum babies!
Don't forget to take pictures!
15. ICE CUBE BABY GAME
Items Needed:
Tiny Plastic Babies (The kind For cake decorating)
Ice cube trays
Small Plastic cups
Instructions:
Fill ice cubes trays with water, place one tiny plastic baby in each cube, freeze.
When all of your guests have arrived give them each a cup with a frozen baby. The guest whose baby is "BORN" first wins!
16. JELLYBEAN COUNT
Items Needed:
1 Baby Bottle
1/4 lb. of Jellybeans
Paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Take the baby bottle and fill with jellybeans, count the jelly beans as you fill the bottle. Record the number of jellybeans it took to fill the bottle.
Give everyone a piece of paper and pencil then pass around the bottle for everyone to examine and write down their guess as to how many jellybeans are in the bottle. The one closest wins the bottle of jellybeans!
17. MEMORY GAME
Items Needed:
A large selections of baby items ( rattle, diaper, blanket, teething ring ect.)
Large Brown paper Bag
Paper
Pencils Or Pens
Instructions:
Place the selection of baby items in the large paper bag. Give each guest 1 minute to study the items in the bag. After they have studied the items in the bag instruct them to write down as many of the items as they can remember. The guest that can remember the most correct baby items wins!
18. MOM'S BOOK
Items Needed:
A Blank Journal or Book.
Pen
Instructions:
During the shower pass the book around to everyone and have them write something inside. It can be advice, their blessings, a wish, proverb or a poem for the new mommy and or parents to read while waiting for their newest additions arrival.
It's nice to let your guest know ahead of time so they are prepared.
19. THE NAME GAME
Items Needed:
Paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Usually by this stage of the pregnancy the parents have names picked out for the baby that's coming whether it's a girl or boy.
Have the entire group write the full name at the top of their paper. Then using only the letters in that name write down as many words as they can find. Everyone must use the same name. The guest with the most words wins!
20. NAME THAT TUNE
Items Needed:
A CD or Tape of Children's songs
Cd player, Boom Box or Tape Player
Paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Let everyone know that they will be listening to a short verse of a children’s song and they are to Name That Tune. After they have heard the selection write down their answers.
Pass out paper and pencils to all your guests.
One by one play a short part of each song and then give your guests time to record their names. If you don't have a CD or tape of songs you can be sing to your guests a short part of the song.
The guest with the most correct titles wins!
21. ONESIES PAINTATHON
Items Needed:
Enough white onesies for each guest to get one.
An assortment of (non-toxic) fabric paints.
Paintbrushes
Instructions:
Have all your guest gather around a large table and decorate their onesie for the new baby.
This is a lot of fun and makes for great shower pictures!
Variations:
This paint-a-thon can also be done with Bibs!
22. PICTURE IT
Items Needed:
Baby Photos of each guest
Paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Have each guest bring a baby photo of themselves to the party. Collect the photo's as they arrive so no one can see them. When you have a picture of everyone place him or her on a bulletin board and place a number above each.
Bring the bulletin board out for everyone to see and pass out the paper and pencils. Have everyone write down which picture belongs to who.
The guest with the most correct guesses wins!
23. PIN COUNTING
Items Needed:
1 8oz. Baby Bottle (clear)
Enough Diaper Pins to Fill Bottle
Paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Before your guest arrive fill the Baby Bottle with the diaper pins, count the number of pins it take to fill the bottle and record the number.
Pass out the paper and pencils to everyone and pass around the Baby Bottle filled with pens and have everyone guess how many Diaper pins are inside the Baby bottle.
The person with the closest guess wins!
24. PIN THE UMBILICAL CORD ON THE BABY
Items Needed:
Large Photo of a baby
String or yarn to make an umbilical cords.
Blindfold
Push Pins
Instructions:
This is a variation of the classic "Pin the tail on the Donkey" with a twist!
Place the large baby picture in the center of a bulletin board.
One by one blindfold each guest and spin him or her around, then let the pin the umbilical cord to the baby. The guest that pins the umbilical cord closest to the naval wins!
25. PLAYDOUGH BABIES
Items Needed:
Play dough (assorted colors)
Instructions:
Have everyone (except the mommy-to-be) gather around a large table. With an assorted selection of Play dough in the center of the table have all your guests make a baby item out of Play dough.
When everyone has finished line the finished items up and have the mommy-to-be judge them. The best and worst baby items win!
26. ROUND THE TUMMY
Items Needed:
Ball of string or yarn
Scissors
Instructions:
Have the mommy-to-be stand up in the middle of your entire guests and turn around for them. Then one by one have everyone cut a piece of string or yarn to the length they think just fits around the mommy-to-be.
When everyone has their strings cut have the mommy-to-be stand in the center of the room again and one by one everyone take a turn placing their strings around her tummy at the waist line. The guest with the string that comes closest to her actual size wins!
27. TIME CAPSULE
Items Needed:
One nice box, jar or tin
One item from each guest
Instructions:
Have each guest bring something with them to the party for the time capsule. Explain to your guest that the item they bring should be something like a newspaper cutting for the year the baby was conceived, a poem written by a friend of the mother or father-to-be or something funny about the mother or father-to-be.
Have everyone place their item in the capsule and present it to the parents-to-be to share with their new child one day.
28. ZOO BABIES
Items Needed:
List of Zoo Animals
Paper
Pencils or Pens
Instructions:
Pass out the paper and pencils to everyone. One at a time read the different zoo animals. As you read a type of zoo animal have your guest write down what their babies are called.
The guest with the most correct zoo babies wins!
Variation:
This game can also be played with Farm animals, Jungle animals or Ocean Fish or mammals.
